Android App Permissions

Ever wonder how relevant advertisements that you never searched for appeared onto your social media? Are we all simply carrying a 24/7 “active tracker,” which records our day to day thoughts and activities?  The issue of data privacy has changed how users can manage their personal data on mobile platforms. Android app permissions has enabled functionality that allows users to limit an app’s access to its operating system’s (OS) features such as the phones mic, bio-metric sensors, and camera. Users can now control what functionality apps have access to, and when they have access.

The following steps will illustrate how to take advantage of these access controls:

1. Navigate to Settings :

2. Navigate to Apps & Notifications

3. Navigate to App Permissions :

4. In the Android App Permissions menu select the feature of interest (Ex: Mic, Camera, Location):

5. Once a feature is selected, a list of apps and their access state will be presented. The access switch can be toggled to enable/disable an app’s access:
