Google Pixel Buds 2 Review

Google’s release of their true wireless Bluetooth earbuds brings a fair game to the market of wireless earbuds. Now that I’ve used the Google Pixel buds 2 for a few months now, I can finally answer the question about its performance. Over all the Pixel Buds 2 feels comfortable, has a nice fit, and performs fairly well.

Analysis

The earbuds come with a custom 12 mm dynamic speaker delivering high quality audio. This includes an adaptive feature that adjusts the volume to fit your surrounding area. The built-in sensors and mics are said to focus on your voice to result in clear calls. I found the calls to be quite clear to the point where I am able to have conversations while mowing the lawn. One thing to note is that these earbuds are not true noise canceling, unlike some of its competitors.

The Google Pixel buds have a great design to fit comfortably and securely in your ear. One thing to note when I first started wearing the pixel buds for long periods of time, It did start to hurt almost like a soreness. After wearing it for a few weeks the pain completely went away. Considering that my ears are tiny, this may not be every user’s experience.

Now, let’s get into some features. One cool feature about these earbuds is their sweat and water resistance, so taking them out in the rain shouldn’t be a problem at all. Google Assistant also comes in handy when it comes texting, calling, getting directions and more all hands-free. One fascinating feature I’ve come across was the real-time translations that use the earphones and your phone’s speaker phone to communicate in the translated language. Although it’s a very impressive feature, it may not be the best translator depending on the language. The last feature that comes to mind are the touch control features for doing things like adjusting volume, answering calls, or pausing or skipping music.

Summary

The Pros– Good sound quality
– Comfortable fit
– Great features
The Cons– Price point at $179
– Battery life not the best for the price
– Very minor and occasional delayed connectivity issues
